What to do when Airtable is down?

Periodically, Airtable experiences service disruptions. The outages can be partial or full disruptions due a variety of reasons from a widespread AWS outage to internal updates Airtable could be making. In some cases, it can take a day for Airtable systems to be fully restored, but during that time, many teams’ workflows and data tracking processes are halted. We’ve compiled some helpful information for Airtable users and admins on how to continue business as usual when Airtable is down.

Types of Outages

There are 4 main types of outages that may affect your use of Airtable:

  1. Full Outages: Nobody can access Airtable.
  2. Partial Disruptions: Some features work, others don’t (e.g., automations failing but bases still load).
  3. Regional Issues: Only users in certain regions or networks are affected.
  4. API Issues: Third-party integrations stop working but the Airtable web UI remains usable.

Signs

Two major signs that Airtable may be experiencing issues are:

  • You’re unable to access Airtable at all, or
  • Airtable is responding extremely slowly to all actions.

Monitor the Situation

Once you know Airtable is down, it’s important to monitor the progress that is being made in resolving the disruption. The best way to do this is to subscribe for updates at: https://status.airtable.com/.

During a Disruption

  1. Communicate with your team proactively to ensure nobody is confused about why Airtable isn’t working.
  2. Have your team log data in a spreadsheet or another document temporarily.

It is okay if your automations are not turned off. Doing so can capture helpful error logs to determine what ran (or didn’t) during the disruption.

After a Disruption

  • Check Your Data
    • Make sure nothing is missing or duplicated – especially records created or updated recently.
    • Ask your team to double-check their entries as well
  • Check Integrations and Tools
    • Check automations in Airtable, Zapier, Make, and homegrown integrations.
    • Rerun any automations that might’ve been missed.
  • Watch For Messaging
    • Some platforms will send updates about what actions they plan on taking following an outage.
    • Examples from the AWS Outage:
      • Zapier sent out a message saying they would re-run affected automations.
      • In the most recent major outage (Oct 2025, as of this article’s release) Make and Airtable did not send out any communication about re-running automations. In this case, you’ll need to identify what automations re-run them manually.
